A pair of projects that will upgrade Route 3 in southern Jersey and northern Madison County have been delayed according to the Illinois Department of Transportation. Repaving and repatching of Route 3 from IL109 to the Madison County line and from the Jersey County line to Pierce Lane in Godfrey was set to begin today but IDOT Supervising Field Engineer John Scheibal says the projects have been pushed back.

Scheibal says IDOT is required to give trucking companies notice of upcoming projects three weeks in advance to make sure that any permits issued online are not impacted by construction. He expects there to be minor traffic delays when work begins and recommends that motorists use an alternate route if possible.
