The Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club has recently finished construction of a new pavilion at Alton’s Haskell Park, and will be giving the structure to the city tomorrow morning. A brief ceremony will be held at the pavilion, which is the culmination of about two month’s worth of Saturdays with Rotary members volunteering their time to the project.
Rotary member Bill Moyer organized the construction portion of the project. Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club President John Hopkins tells The Big Z it had been a while since the club had done a “hands-on” construction project like the Lincoln-Douglas Square or the steamboat mural.

Hopkins believes the pavilion is a nice compliment to the playhouse. It is big enough, he says, to accommodate several picnic tables. The dedication ceremony will be held at 10:30am Friday.
