Illinois Congressman Peter Roskam (pictured) is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee. They’re looking into a privately sponsored trip Roskam took to Taiwan, along with his wife, back in 2011. Roskam’s camp provided the “Daily Herald” with records of the trip, which was paid for by the Chinese Culture University. His spokesperson says the trip was approved by the Ethics panel before Roskam left.
She also says the Congressman fully complied with all laws, rules, and procedures to privately sponsored travel. A statement on the Ethics Committee’s website points out that an investigation doesn’t automatically mean a violation has occurred. Roskam is a Republican from Wheaton who’s serving his fourth term in the U.S. Congress.
