Roosevelt Street in Bethalto remains under the spotlight as the planned repaving project falls further behind schedule. Public Works Director Joe Ricci updated the board on the status of the project during last night’s meeting. He says that curbs have been installed but there is still plenty of work to be done.
Ricci says that he expects the entire project to be finished within the next two weeks and that Roosevelt should be completely reopened by the end of October, putting it nearly two months behind schedule.
In other business, board members unanimously voted to amend and extend the village’s contract with Allied Waste through 2018. The approved amendment establishes new rates for curbside garbage pickup service and gives residents the option to keep their current 96-gallon trashcans or switch to a smaller 56-gallon version. The new contract should save residents about $2 per month.
