With the Illinois primary five days away, the candidates are upon us. Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul spoke Wednesday night to 5,000 people, mostly college students, at the University of Illinois. The event was sponsored by U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson (R-Urbana), who endorsed Paul at the event.

Paul spoke on a range of topics in a speech that ran 50 minutes, including shrinking the size of the government and bringing the troops home. Meanwhile, Newt Gingrich appeared at a rally in Rosemont, and at fund-raisers in Barrington and Palatine.
