If you travel Illinois 255 between Wood River and I-270, get ready for some delays. Beginning June 2, the highway will be reduced to one lane in both directions between Madison Avenue interchange and the interstate to make approach surface corrections at various locations.
IDOT Engineer Ted Nemsky says although the highway is less than 20 years old through that area, this work could be considered routine, given the terrain on which it was built.

He says the work should be done by July 31, assuming the weather cooperates and there are no unforeseen problems. Nemsky reminds drivers to use extra caution in all work zones, and to put the cell phones down.
