Work on the Roosevelt re paving project in the village of Bethalto has moved at a slower pace than residents expected and they are now voicing their frustration. Public Works Director Joe Ricci says that he has received numerous calls over the past few weeks regarding phase 2 of the project and that he has had to tell residents what they didn't want to hear - they are behind.

Ricci says that they have had to push the expected completion date back to around Labor Day, which is almost 8 weeks behind schedule. Despite the set back he says they are slowly making progress.

He also says that the first phase of the project, which includes the portion of the street from Moreland Road to Meadows Drive should be completed in a few weeks.

In other road related business, village officials voted on Monday to award a bid worth just over $880-thousand to Valley Construction of South Roxana, to cover the costs of the Central Street project. That project is scheduled to begin sometime in September.
