The Illinois Department of transportation has announced the closure of IL 100 at US 67 in Alton due to the rising Mississippi River. There is a detour marked for this closure.
The following District 8 roads have also been closed: Route 155 near Prairie Du Rocher, the Water Street IL Route 3 Truck By Pass, and Kaskaskia Street in Chester, IL. Route 3 between Chester and Grimsby in Randolph and Jackson Counties, Brussels Ferry between Jersey and Calhoun Counties, Route 100 between Hardin and Kampsville, Route 3 in Grafton, and Route 100 through Pearl in Pike County.
Two-way traffic remains available on the upper lanes only in West Alton, MO.
All road closure in District 8 are expected to remain closed until at least Thursday evening. Also Route 100 between Alton and Grafton could be closed this weekend due to the rising Mississippi River. Traffic control devices and directional signage have been placed to help motorists to safely navigate around major closures. Additional travel times should be expected throughout the region.
