A series of RiverWatch volunteer training workshops will be held throughout Illinois this spring in summer.  Two of those will be held in Alton at the National Great Rivers Research and Education Center.  The program offers Illinois citizens and educators the chance to train to become citizen scientists.

RiverWatch Coordinator Matthew Young tells The Big Z you don't have to have a background in river science to get something out of this program.

Registration for either workshop is $50 per person and must be paid in advance.  Registration is free for Illinois 4-H groups.  To register or learn more call Young at 618-468-2784 or follow visit http://www.ngrrec.org/RiverWatch
