Improvements planned for Riverview Park in Alton are closer to happening, as the city has received word that they have made the cut to go into the next phase in applying for an OSLAD grant.  The word came down just minutes before Alton Park & Recreation Deputy Executive Director Rhonda Lewis appeared on Let's Talk Thursday morning, and she broke the news to listeneners:

Lewis comments

She says she is feeling pretty good at this point, as the city has applied for several OSLAD Grants in the past, and has been approved for all of them.  No work has begun on the park yet, as once that happens, it is not reimburseable through the grant process.  The city has already been approved for a  National Scenic Byways Grant in the amount of $404,000.  The plan is to improve the gazebo, area lighting and sidewalk connectivity, and be done with the whole project by 2014- the 100 year anniversary of the park.
