The name of the River Bend Arena will be changing in the coming months after the Board of Trustees at Lewis and Clark Commuinty College voted to rename the facility in honor of a former employee. It will bear the name of George C. Terry, the former Vice President of Student Life at the college, who also served as an admistrator in the athletics department from 1985 until earlier this year.

Terry has also held several positions in the community including more than 20 years of service to the Alton School Board, which included a stint as board president. He served 20 years with the Madison County Urban League, is a former president of the Alton Park and Recreation Commission and has served as a board member for several other local organizations.

A formal ceremony to rededicate the George C. Terry River Bend Arena is being planned and will be held later this year.
