The theme of the Illinois State Fair in 2015, “Growing Illinois,” is everywhere you look at the fairgrounds, the state's director of agriculture said at today's ribbon-cutting ceremonies.
“When you look at the Ag Tent,” said Philip Nelson, “you're going to see how agriculture has changed: going back to the days when we had two-row corn pickers to today, you'll see on display a twelve-row head on a combine.”
“This is one of the greatest fairs in America,” said Gov. Bruce Rauner. “Hundreds of thousands of people come here from around Illinois, around the Midwest, and around the great United States, to celebrate here with us in the wonderful community of Springfield.”
