Renovations on the "upper field" at Alton Middle School wrapped up recently, and the first games will be played there Saturday morning. The dedication of the new field is a milestone in a project that began over a year ago, after the school received a grant worth more than $63,000 from Major League Baseball.
It was the school's head baseball coach that applied for the Baseball Tomorrow Fund grant. Brett Huff says this is a nice, new field.

The grant funding was used to assist in the construction of two dugouts, fencing, a backstop and a new playing surface. Anyone is welcome to attend the ribbon cutting at 8:30am, followed by games against Wolf Branch Middle School. Due to the staging of the Labor Parade, you are advised to park behind the Annex or Olin buildings.
