A lack of cooperation by potential witnesses in last week's murder of an Alton man has led police to increase the reward they are offering for information leading to an arrest. $5,000 is available to the person that provides the lead that takes investigators to the killer or killers of 23-year-old Tyler Hoppe a week ago yesterday.

Hoppe was shot in an alleyway in the 1200 block of Hampton Avenue, which is near his home, as he stood next to his car.  He died a short time later at Alton Memorial Hospital. Alton Police Chief of Detectives, Lieutenant Scott Golike, says investigators are looking for two black females they believe were close to the scene of the crime.

Golike comments

Golike believes most of the activity that led up to the murder happened outside, so they would like to talk to anyone who had contact with Hoppe the day of his death. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Alton Police at 463-3505, extension 249, or the anonymous tip line at 465-5948.
