The list of potential candidates eyeing Governor Pat Quinn's job is growing. Quinn says he'll surely be the Democrats' choice but several well-known Republicans could be looking to take his spot. Eighteenth District Congressman Aaron Schock, State Treasurer Dan Rutherford, and state Senator Kirk Dillard (pictured) are all potential candidates.
Dillard is planning a second run for Illinois governor.
Dillard believes he has a good shot at winning the 2014 GOP primary because of how well he did in all three sections of the state in 2010. He lost the 2010 GOP primary to Bill Brady by under 200 votes. Candidates will start circulating petitions in about nine months. The primary is just over 15 months away.
