World Stroke Day was held earlier this week, but the message remains clear - the Illinois Department of Public Health is urging everyone to take steps to reduce their risks.  Public Health Director Doctor Lamar Hasbrouck says stroke is the fourth leading cause of death in Illinois, and the leading cause of disability.

He says it's important to know the symptoms and get medical care right away.

Hasbrouck comments

Hasbrouck says you can help reduce your risk of stroke by not smoking, eating healthy and exercising, and addressing problems like high blood pressure and cholesterol.
