Chapters of the American Red Cross in parts of Illinois are looking for blood donors to help replenish supplies during its World Red Cross Day celebrations. World Red Cross Day is held every May 8th to honor the principals of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. While there are no local blood drives tomorrow, there are two to wrap up the week.
Al Bertram, Disaster Specialist with the Southwestern Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross, says while supplies are in decent shape now, that could change drastically over the next month or so.
People can donate blood Friday at the Evangelical Elementary School in Godfrey from 3-7pm and at the Brighton Municipal Building from 2-7pm. All blood types are requested.
