Ice and snow in the north. Flooding in the south. Wind and rain all over.

The American Red Cross says it's prepared for the deluge of wet weather in Illinois. "We've been watching the weather patterns since last Tuesday or Wednesday, (and) putting volunteers on standby," says Betsy Pratt, CEO for the organization's region that includes the southern two-thirds of the state. "Employees who could change their vacation plans have been ready and available."

Pratt says volunteers and employees have helped find shelter for those who need it. She also encourages people to download the Red Cross app, which can give emergency information and also let your loved ones know you are safe.
