Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner says heated rhetoric is irrelevant and lawmakers need to get back to work.  With Wednesday’s legislative session canceled and still no budget, Governor Rauner said lawmakers should get back to work and vote on a stopgap measure to fund government operations through the calendar year and a standalone K-12 education bill.

Asked when he’d call a special session, Rauner said he’s not into wasting time.

In a statement, Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan said Democrats have concerns about a lack of funding for certain programs and services, something working groups continue to negotiate.  Meanwhile Rauner addressed heated rhetoric from both sides and said it’s irrelevant.
