The Quinn campaign is making the point that Republican governor candidate Bruce Rauner didn’t have any African-Americans working at his investment firm. In a radio ad, the campaign says that of 51 professionals (presumably not counting support personnel) at Rauner’s firm, none were African-American.  Rauner said Wednesday in Bloomington that that isn’t true.

“Somebody said we didn’t have any African-Americans. I personally have hired African-American members of our team. That’s just false,” he said.  Rauner has been trying to make inroads among African-Americans to a greater degree that most Republicans do, enlisting the support of a handful of African-American preachers in Chicago and the suburbs.
“Here’s the real issue: Pat Quinn has failed for families in Illinois, especially minority families. African-American families, Latino families are suffering under Pat Quinn,” Rauner said.
