If you travel between Alton and Godfrey via Washington Avenue and Humbert Road, you will need to take a different route after 10pm. Union Pacific Railroad is planning to conduct repairs on the crossing by Bowl Haven beginning at 10pm, with work to wrap up in time for the morning commute on Tuesday, assuming all goes according to plan.
Another nearby road closure has wrapped up, with the completion of work on the railroad trestle above Seminary Street. That project was completed last week, and the road reopened in time for Thanksgiving. This evening's Washington Avenue rail crossing project is not related to the higher speed rail upgrades that are planned for next year.
