The patronage workers who were improperly hired at the Illinois Department of Transportation – are they still working there? The position of “staff assistant,” which was exempt from rules against patronage hiring but shouldn’t have been according to the inspector general, has been eliminated. But were those people among the 58 staff assistants who were fired, or are some being moved to other IDOT positions? Gov. Pat Quinn was asked about that Friday.
“I’ll ask the secretary to review that to determine if anyone who had the title in the past went and got another position. I’ll ask her to review that for us,” he said.
