Madigan announced Monday that she won’t pursue a bid for governor, opting instead to run for re-election in her current position. She stated her choice was influenced by the undesirability of having a governor and House speaker in the same family, and the fact that her father, House Speaker Mike Madigan (D-Chicago) isn’t leaving.
