Governor Pat Quinn says Illinois lawmakers should follow in the footsteps of Connecticut and strike a deal on tougher gun laws. Lawmakers in Connecticut are expected to pass a bill banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines with more than 10 bullets. It also requires universal background checks for gun purchases and registration requirements for people who've been convicted of gun crimes.
Governor Quinn says Illinois lawmakers should follow suit.
Meanwhile, lawmakers in Illinois continue to go back and forth on whether such bans and regulations violate a person's Second Amendment right.
