Gov. Pat Quinn doesn’t think much of a pledge that Republicans have made ahead of the November elections. One of the pledges Republican House candidates are making is to repeal the 2 percentage point income tax increase, portions of which are set to expire at the end of 2014.  Quinn says it’s politics as usual ahead of an election.

“This is the political season. The election is less than four weeks away. There’ll be a lot of proposals by the Republican people and they’re entitled to do that. I just don’t think they’re going to do very well at the ballot box,” Quinn said.  Quinn says there will be some claims from the Republican campaign that they “can do everything without paying for it,” but he says the public knows better.
