The Better Business Bureau is questioning the validity of an event that advertises it is happening in Downtown St. Louis on Sunday. What appears to be a bogus 5K Fun Run, light show and music party dubbed “The Birthday Run” has been marketed to area residents recently, but the city’s top event planner said the area where the event is supposed to be held – near Soldiers Memorial and Kaufmann Park – already is scheduled to host another event.
BBB Investigator Bill Smith tells The Big Z they got a heads-up about this alleged scam from their counterparts in Baltimore and Hawaii.

In addition to the advertised St. Louis run, the website also lists other upcoming birthday runs in Missouri, including events in Columbia, Springfield and Kansas City. The event had been marketed mostly through Groupon, offering a single entry ticket for $24, or two tickets for $47. Groupon recently said it has stopped working with the business and is no longer offering the discounts.
