With state lawmakers facing a June 9 deadline to pass a concealed gun law, the Illinois Rifle Association is calling on its members to demand that lawmakers pass the broadest type of law, known as a "shall issue" law.  Lawmakers have been struggling to develop a law that balances the view that every law-abiding gun owner be allowed to carry a concealed weapon with the desire of police in Chicago to limit the issuance of concealed gun permits and the places where concealed guns could be carried.

The gun group's alert to its members also includes the dubious claim gun that control advocates also seek to confiscate their semiautomatic pistols, rifles and standard capacity magazines.  A Senate vote on a concealed carry bill could happen this week.
