U.S. Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois is leading the push in Washington to require online retailers to charge customers the sales tax they would pay in the communities where they live.  Durbin is behind a measure that has been supported in the Senate on a test vote. 

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn says the state is losing about 200-million dollars a year in state sales taxes to online purchases.
