A pair of Alton park projects may be in jeopardy if state funding is not made available. Mayor Walker says if the plan to cut the income tax reimbursement comes to pass, that would be a $1.3-million hit to the budget based off of this year’s figures. To that end, the City Council suspended the rules to enact a freeze on any new hires unless approved by the council until the 2015-2016 budget is passed. That does not include the seasonal help hired by Park & Recreation.
