What becomes of the Wood River Power Station in Alton once it closes will be the topic of a public forum this week.  You are invited to the Jacoby Arts Center on Broadway in Alton Tuesday night to discuss the future of the plant that its owner - Dynegy Inc. - plans to close later this year.

Concerns include the loss of jobs and the environmental impact of the coal-fired power plant.  The Sierra Club's Elizabeth Scrafford tells The Big Z they been calling on community leaders to start planning for the inevitable transition of aging power plants like the Wood River coal plant for more than a year.

The RiverBend Growth Association's Monica Bristow will moderate the forum, which will run from 6 - 8pm on January 12.  No RSVP is necessary.  For more information, call 462-6802
