Don't forget about your pets as the cold weather lurks later this season.  The first suggestion is to bring them inside, but if that is not an option, the Alton Area Animal Aid Association has some tips to protect your pets this winter.  Just like humans, they need plenty of fresh water, and you need to check on it to make sure it doesn't freeze.

You also need to feed your pets more often, as they will use more energy staying warm.  5A’s Executive Director Ric Jun tells The Big Z you should fix your dog or cat house is as draft free as possible.

He also suggests banging on the hood of your car before starting, as animals will use the warmth of the engine to keep themselves warm.
