Whether or not an Alton - Godfrey Connector road is ever built is still to be seen, but with the announcement of a Multi-Year Plan this week by Governor Pat Quinn, it appears the idea is moving forward. State Senator Bill Haine, and State Representative Dan Beiser - both of Alton – are keeping an eye on its progress, realizing there are detractors who think the project is a waste of money, a liability on existing businesses, or both.
But that, says Haine, is an example of not looking at the big picture. He says the I-255 project met with similar opposition decades ago.
