Madison County Treasurer Kurt Prenzler's office is now taking payments for the newest round of tax bills that were mailed out recently. Of the better than 130,000 tax bills that were mailed out, many will take advantage of the ability to pay online, which was a new payment method last year. There are changes to the online bill-pay this year, expected to make the process easier.
It is similar to other online shopping sites, such as Amazon.com, according to Prenzler. He says one thing you don't want to do is wait until February when delinquent taxes go up for sale.
In addition to online bill pay, you can pay in person, mail a check, or pay at any of a number of financial institutions. This year the due dates for the four-payment plan are July 10, September 10, October 10 and December 10.
