It is the middle of prom season and students are buying dresses, and renting tuxedos. Local law enforcement is also getting involved, telling the kids to have fun, but be safe. The biggest message is to stay away from alcohol.
Kids caught drinking can face some stiff penalties, including the loss of license under the zero-tolerance policy. Illinois State Police Trooper Jeff Yenchko says one option many kids are choosing is the school-sponsored after-prom party.

He reminds that police are constantly on the lookout for drunk drivers and underage drinking parties. He says it is often times a tip that is called in that results in an underage drinking party being busted.
