The process of identifying a body found in Alton about a month ago has been a slow one, and it may still be a while until the process is done.   Authorities were called to property in the 2700 block of Powhatten Street where human remains were found on August 5.  Alton Police Public Information Officer Emily Hejna gives an update on the case to the Big Z:

By local, Hejna says she is talking about Alton cases only.  The body was found in the trunk of a car in the area near the intersection of Powhatten and Seminary Streets.  There are a number of missing persons cases in surrounding communities, but Hejna says until the lab identifies the body, it is pointless to speculate where the body may have come from.  If you have any information on the case, call Alton Police at 463-3505.
