President Obama is nominating a Belleville attorney to fill an upcoming vacancy in Southern Illinois' Federal District Court. 45 year old Nancy Rosenstengel has been a clerk of that court since 2009. She is nominated to replace U.S. District Judge Patrick Murphy who is retiring in December.
Murphy has served on the federal bench since 1997. Rosenstengal was a clerk for Judge Murphy for 11 years and was also in private practice for five years in St. Louis. Illinois U.S. Senator Dick Durbin promises to swiftly move the nomination process through the U.S. Senate.
