The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration estimates 7-million Americans abuse prescription drugs. Today is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, and locally, you can drop your old or unused prescription medication at the police station in Alton.

Among abusers over the age of 12, research shows 70% obtain the drugs from friends and family members. Alton Police Chief David Hayes says this is a resource for anyone, not just Alton residents.
