Madison County Treasurer Kurt Prenzler objects to how the Madison County Board Chairman makes appointments.  Prenzler, who is running for the chairman’s seat later this year, says there needs to be greater transparency in the process so people who are interested have a chance to apply.

Prenzler cited the appointments at the December Madison County Board meeting as the first in a long time that included discussion.  He said typically, board members and the public get little if any notice of appointments as the names of those being appointed on not listed on the agenda.  Prenzler would like Madison County to copy what is done in other Illinois counties:

Prenzler says he understands there are appointments based on political party affiliation, but believes there needs to be clear guidelines on how the appointments are made and notification of who is being appointed.
