The City of Wood River is repairing water monitoring equipment at its water treatment facility and a precautionary boil order has been issued as a result of the upgrades. The order went into effect at 12:01 a.m. today (Tuesday) and will remain in effect until sample results are returned from the lab.
Wood River Director of Public Services Steve Palen says it's important to remember that this is a precautionary order that is required by the EPA.
Palen says the order will effect all residents of Wood River, including those who are served by the Northeast Central County Public Water District. He also says that you should remember to boil water for five minutes before consuming or cooking with it and throwing away any ice that is made while the order is in effect. For more information you can contact Wood River Public Services or the Wood River Police Department by calling 251-3113. This story will be updated when the boil order is lifted.
