A popular midwestern dairy company is moving its corporate headquarters to Madison County. Prairie Farms Dairy plans to build in a new business park near I-55 and Highway 143 in Edwardsville. The Madison County Board gave approval this week to an addition to an enterprise zone that will facilitate the move.
Board members Democrat Helen Hawkins of Granite City and Republican Lisa Ciampoli of Collinsville opposed the expansion. Board Chairman Alan Dunstan supported the move, calling it a job creator for the county. Prairie Farms will move its corporate officers into the Edwardsville Corporate Centre, but will still maintain its dairy facilities in Carlinville.
