Power is being restored to most of the remaining Ameren customers that lost service during last nights round of strong storms that pummeled the Riverbend and surrounding areas.  At the peak of the outage, nearly 24,800 customers were without power throughout the Ameren Illinois service area, including about 10,000 in Alton.

Ameren Illinois activated its Emergency Operations Center at 11:00pm to coordinate service restoration, logistical support and communications.  While most customers should have power restored by 6:00pm, all customers are expected to have service restored by midnight.
