Power was knocked out in parts of Alton Wednesday evening after 5:00, impacting more than 600 customers, many in and around downtown Alton.   Another outage today affected about 2200 customers in the Milton area.    Brian Bretsch tells The Big Z the outage was reported just after 9:30am.

Last night there were broken crossarms that brought down power lines and caused a substation to go out.  For some customers, the outage lasted a few minutes, while others reported no power for more than two hours.  That situation was also caused by human error - part of a tree that was being trimmed fell across a power line, bringing down the crossarms.
