Local mail carriers are holding their annual food drive this coming weekend. The National Association of Letter Carriers and the United Way are teaming up to promote the Stamp Out Hunger food collection drive that will take place at your mailboxes this Saturday morning.
United Way spokesman Natasha Day tells the Big Z this is a nationwide effort but the food collected will remain local:

Food items that are needed include any non-perishable items like canned soups, meats and peanut butter and boxed foods or meals like mac and cheese and pastas. No glass, frozen foods, or produce will be accepted during the food drive. Once collected, the food will be distributed to food pantries in the local postal area.
Have those donations at your mailbox this Saturday May 14 by 8:00am.
