After gathering letters of support from several municipalities, officials with the Tri-City Regional Port District say that expansion is on the horizon. Tri-City Regional Port District Executive Director Dennis Wilmsmeyer shared the news on Z-1570’s Let Talk Monday that legislation has been drafted that would make the expansion possible. He says State Senator Bill Haine (D-Alton) and State Representative Dan Beiser (D-Alton) will introduce that legislation in their respective chambers this spring.
If it’s approved, Wilmsmeyer says the measure would need be signed into law by Governor Pat Quinn, which would signal the start of another process.
