A man who went door-to-door selling Boy Scout popcorn is now facing charges for failing to deliver.  Authorities say 31-year-old Jakob Bottoms of Cottage Hills allegedly pretended to sell Boy Scout popcorn to residents in Collinsville in September, but hasn’t been seen since.  Police say so far seven people have come forward claiming they were ripped off.

Collinsville authorities say the residents reported Bottoms came to their door along with a boy dressed in a scout uniform and used what appeared to be official order forms. The victims made out personal checks to Bottoms who allegedly said he would write a final check to the scouts for the popcorn orders.  Bottoms faces three counts of felony theft after the charges were filed against him on Tuesday.  Authorities have not said what if any connection the boy has to Bottoms.  Local Boy Scout officials are cooperating with the investigation.
