A man pulled from a swimming pool in Alton Wednesday afternoon has been identified. 54 year old David Rollins of the 800 block of Highland in Alton had reportedly gone for a swim at a family members home in the first block of Avon Place when he was reported missing. Family members called 911 after they could not see him in the water, which was very murky according to emergency responders.
Two Alton Fire paramedics and an Alton Police officer jumped into the water to find Rollins, who was eventually found in the pool. He was pulled from the water and CPR was started before he was later taken to Alton Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Family members say Rollins had gone outside for a swim, but when they went out later, they found only his belongings sitting in a chair and could not find him, or see him in the water. The preliminary cause of death is listed as drowning, but additional tests are taking place to see if he had a medical emergency while he was in the pool.
