Checking local police reports provided this morning to Z-1570, Wood River Police reports an Alton man allegedly stole a pellet gun from the Walmart store and held police at bay following a brief pursuit early Tuesday. 20 year old Nicholas Middleton of the 200 block of Wonderland Drive is being held for retail theft and attempting to elude police. Police say Middleton fled the store with Airsoft guns around 3:40am Tuesday just as officers were responding to the report of a possible retail theft. Middleton reportedly held one of the guns to his head and officers kept their distance not knowing what type of weapon he possessed. The pursuit ended on Old Oak Road in Rosewood Heights when a wheel came off of his car and he was taken into custody.
Also held by Wood River Police this morning, 25 year old John McMillian of Bethalto for retail theft. 31 year old Dujuan Cole of Madison for retail theft and an outstanding warrant.
East Alton Police were holding 43 year old Susan Bailey of the 3000 block of Franor in Alton on a failure to appear warrant for theft.
Alton Police responded to a vehicle crash Tuesday morning just off the Homer Adams Parkway extension near the railroad overpass. The overturned vehicle was found upside down in a ditch and on fire when emergency crews arrived, but three female occupants had escaped without injury. The women were taken to local hospitals as a precaution, but their names have not been released.
