Checking local police reports provided this morning to Z-1570, Alton Police were holding 45 year old Kirk Buster of the 1100 block of Milnor in Alton was held for disorderly conduct for allegedly making calls to Alton Police and the Madison County Sheriff's Department that someone he knew was going to try to kill the family member of a police officer. Authorities say once they determined the name of the caller, who they say was Buster, they also determined Buster made up the story following a dispute with a family member. Police say they contacted the family member who Buster named, who denied making any threats against anyone.

Police also responded to Eunice Smith School on Tuesday for a lockdown by school officials concerning what was called a procedure with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. The lockdown lasted for about 10 minutes, and school officials say there was never any danger, no weapons, and no arrests. A school spokeswoman said a message would be sent to parents of students to explain what happened. Assistant Superintendent Kristie Baumgartner called the lockdown a precaution.

There was no one being held by Wood River or East Alton Police early this morning.
