Checking local police reports provided this morning to Z-1570, the Madison County Sheriff's Department charged two women with aggravated vehicular hijacking after they allegedly stole the vehicle of a male victim. 35 year old Melissa Burcks and 31 year old Samantha Martin, both of Granite City, were identified as the suspects following an investigation of the incident from December 29. The victim told police he picked up the women and they drove to a residence in Granite City where they picked up an unidentified male, and then one of the women drove and they stopped at 255 and New Poag Road where the victim was forced from the car, but as he struggled with the suspects, was dragged a short distance and suffered injuries. Police continue to work on the identity of the 2nd male involved in the case.

East Alton Police arrested 43 year old Harry Woods III on Sunday and he has now been charged with aggravated battery after he allegedly threatened his son with a meat cleaver. Police say an argument over burned biscuits lead to the altercation.

A Godfrey man has been charged following a shooting incident in Alton from early last Friday morning. Ronald Gipson of the 7400 block of Montclair Avenue has been charged with aggravated battery with a firearm after he allegedly shot another man while he sat in a car near Elliott and Maupin. The man was treated and released for a gunshot wound to the upper chest.
