Checking local police reports provided this morning to Z-1570, Alton Police were investigating the report of a home invasion and the injury to two dogs during the crime. The pit bulls were shot by the three armed suspects, who then threatened and robbed the occupants of the home in the 2700 block of Residence early Monday. The dogs were not seriously injured, and are recovering. One suspect reportedly struck one of the men inside the home and threatened the others with their weapons, but apparently only got away with a cell phone. A police report describes the suspects as black males, all wearing darker clothing, with two of the three attempting to cover their faces. All three were armed with semi-automatic handguns, but only one suspect fired shots hitting the dogs. The men escaped on foot toward the direction of the Casey's General Store on East Broadway.
